Week One, Term Three
In today’s class, my media partner Belle and I presented our treatment and pitch to the class. We were simply outlining the ideas or our story from beginning to end. A treatment is extremely important when producing a film so the writer can be sure that the story follows correctly before they commence the script. Once Belle and I finished our treatment it was time to read through our pitch on a PowerPoint presentation. In our pitch we included story outline, locations, production design, costumes, actors and inspiration. When we were developing our pitch we also had to consider the following:
- Is your idea simple and achievable?
- Is it acceptable?
- Is it safe?
- Do you have a plot?
- Is it engaging?
- Are your locations accessible?
- Are your actors reliable?
- Do you have copyright clearance?

Some of our ideas included our concept which was mimicking vloggers, instagrammers and influencers
seen on social media. We got inspiration from the style of most reality TV including ‘KUWTK’, ‘Love Island’ and many stylistic elements including interviews, monologue features, shaky handheld camera and royalty free music. We hope to have exaggerated acting and zooming that is commonly seen on ‘The Office’.
Our two characters include:
- Vlogger/Instagrammar: Classic niche youtuber/instagrammer. Emma chamberlain inspo. “Basic white girl”. Satirical portrayal.
2. Slobby friend: Lazy, indifferent to social media, polar opposite to their friend, tolerates them anyway.
Inspiration:

At the end of presenting our pitch we asked our class the following questions in order to improve our idea and to get their feedback:
- What else would you want to see in this film?
- What youtuber’s do you watch/who do you want us to mimic?
- What location would be considered the most Instagrammy?
